Ofqual introduced the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) to replace the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in 2015. Unlike the QCF, it does not set qualification design rules but sets a wide range of requirements that regulated qualifications must meet in order to be valid and fit for purpose.
The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a European-wide qualifications framework which joins the qualifications of different EU members together. The EQF aims to facilitate mobility of students and workers throughout Europe and to help develop lifelong learning. The EQF is voluntary and member countries are not obliged to cross reference frameworks although the QCF and the SCQF have done so.
